This premium organic gyokuro has expansive flavor with depth and body from single buds only available in March/April when the best, fragrant and tender green leaf is produced. Grown in Zhejiang Province it is produced using Japanese processing methods.The leaves are shaded, plucked and then lightly steamed producing dark green leaves that give a slightly pungent tea with depth and character. While gyokuro contains less catechin it has the highest content of L-theanine of any leaf tea, rivaled only by the powdered green tea known as Matcha.

L-theanine is linked to increased alpha brain wave production and is considered a natural antidepressant and stress reliever. Japanese studies link consumption of L-theanine with strengthening the immune system. L-theanine is often added to energy drinks and is known to give a 6-hour sustainable energy boost.

Mass Market teas typically have a 5-6% antioxidant level. This tea has a very high antioxidant level of 11.6%

Hot Tea:
- Boil water and let cool to 176F/80C
- Steep for 2-3 minutes (longer=stronger)
- Use approx. 1-3 tsp per cup
- To re-infuse use higher temperature/less time

Iced Tea:
- Pour 1 1/4 cups boiled water on 6 tsps of tea
- Steep for 5 minutes
- Pour into pitcher while straining leaves.
- For a quart of tea add ice & top w/cold water
- Garnish and sweeten to taste
